Police officer interdicted for impregnating 12 year old girl

The Police have denied shielding a Lance Corporal accused of defiling and impregnating a 12 year old girl.

A Human Rights Lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu and the parents of the alleged victim have accused the police of showing reluctance in prosecuting the matter three months after an official complaint was lodged.

The girl is said to be seven months pregnant. 

Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, said the policeman alleged to have defiled the girl, Lance Corporal Emmanuel Bartels has been on interdiction for more than a month while his docket has been sent to the AG`s office for advice.
