Today marks 3rd anniversary of passing of late President Mills

July 24, 2015 is exactly three years since the passing of Professor John Evans Atta Mills, after a short illness. He served as President of Ghana from 2009 to July 2012. 

In a message to commemorate his third anniversary, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, Bismark Tawiah Boateng, said the political tension in the country was calmed when Prof Mills became President and that earned him the name ‘Asomdwoehene’ as he constantly preached peace. 

Without Prof Mills, Mr Boateng said Ghanaians would have forgotten about the first President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, who fought for Ghana's independence. He said Prof Mills is gone but will always be remembered for his intelligence and contribution to NDC and Ghana as a whole. 

Meanwhile, the younger brother of the late President, Dr Cadman Mills reiterates that Prof. Atta Mills was not murdered but died from a natural cause.

Dr Cadman Mills said the family also has no plans of transferring the remains of the late President from the Asomdwee Park to Ekumfi Otuam in the Central Region.
