Experts in telecommunication industry meet in Accra to decide on timetable to migrate to digital broadcasting

Though ECOWAS members could not migrate to digital broadcasting, they are being proactive in tapping into the benefits associated with the process

In view of these opportunities, experts in the telecommunication industry in the sub-region are meeting in Accra to decide on a clear time table to migrate to digital broadcasting.  

The spectrum dividend will be a left-over of the wireless band after the switch over.  

This will generate revenue for member countries and facilitate development.  

A Deputy Minister of Communications, Ato Sarpong who opened the conference has more on the spectrum dividends.

The ECOWAS Commissioner of Telecommunication, Dr. Isaias Barreto de Rosa explains the benefits of the spectrum dividends.

On the continental level, Rwanda, Tanzania and Mauritius are the only countries that have migrated from analogue to digital broadcasting.
