Land, chieftaincy conflicts retard development is how the Daily Graphic captions its editorial. The paper says protracted chieftaincy disputes and inter communal conflicts threaten the peace and stability of the country which is touted as the oasis of peace in the sub-region. The paper says in places where there are conflicts, it has been difficult for people to go about their daily activities. The Graphic calls on the people of Nkonya and Alavanyo to heed the appeal by the Vice President to find a permanent solution to the conflict there.  The paper also appeals to government to as a matter of urgency, mobilise resources at its disposal to end all conflicts in the country. It urges the parties in the disputes to smoke the peace pipe for government to implement its programmes and projects peacefully.

The Ghanaian Times says the harmattan is at its peak and it is not favourable as people are exposed to health hazards, properties are destroyed and the hazy weather affects the movement of vehicles on the roads.  It says this year’s harmattan is so intense that the Ghana Meteorological Agency has been compelled to advise pilots and motorists to exercise extreme caution during the period. The paper wishes that warning by the Ghana Meteorological Agency is strictly complied with to prevent road accidents and plane crashes. It believes when these measures are adhered to lives and property will be safeguarded.
